CHAPTER VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) / Sobriety Checkpoint Volunteer

 

 

OUR MISSION        

·        To stop impaired driving and to support victims of this violent crime.

 

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

·        Help keep our communities and roadways safe.

·        Raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving (drinking and / or drugs).

·        Distribute free promotional items (i.e., coupon books, calendars, pencils, magnets, red ribbons, stickers, etc…), literature and resource materials to drivers (cars, trucks, boats and snowmobiles).

 

COMMITMENT                                                                                                                    

·        Evenings and variable (generally November-December & July-August).

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: KEY TASKS / ACTIVITIES       

·        Partner with community police officers.

·        Work in partnership with a team of volunteers.

·        Distribute free promotional items, literature and resource materials to drivers.

·        Be knowledgeable about MADD Canada’s policies, programs and services.

·        Promote the Chapter positively within your community.

·        Complete and submit a consent & liability waiver form (if requested by police).

·        Wear a fluorescent safety vest (provided by the Chapter).

·        Dress warmly!

·        Respect and follow directions given by police at the scene.

ORIENTATION

·        You will receive an Orientation Guide and might be asked to attend an Orientation Session (from / by your local Chapter).

 

TRAINING

·        You will be supported and trained by a committee chair / committee member / board member, Chapter Administrative Assistant and / or police officer.
