CHAPTER VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

Board of Directors - President

 

 
OUR MISSION

·         To stop impaired driving and to support victims of this violent crime.

 

ROLE PROFILE

·         As Chapter President, you are the leader of a dynamic grassroots MADD Canada Chapter within your community.  You will work collaboratively with fellow board members; community partners and the national office to support our mission.

 

COMMITMENT                                                                                                                   

·         1-2 year term followed by a 1-2 year term as Past President (preferred).

·         10-12+ hours / month.

 

PREREQUISITE
 

·         Be an active Chapter member.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: KEY TASKS / ACTIVITIES      
 

·         Chair monthly board / Chapter meetings.

·         Chair annual general and / or general meetings.

·         Ensure the Chapter is compliant with national policies and procedures.

·         Ensure the Chapter meets annual core service requirements in order to receive grant funding from the national office.

·         Chair or co-ordinate an annual strategic planning session / retreat for the board.

·         Promote and co-ordinate training opportunities i.e., board development (as required).

·         Work collaboratively with fellow board members; your community; community partners (i.e., police, fire, emergency medical services, media, schools, health department, local merchants, companies, etc…) and the national office.

·         Be knowledgeable about MADD Canada’s policies, programs and services.

·         Assist committee chairs and members as necessary.

·         Act as a signing officer for the Chapter (as required).

·         Participate on quarterly President conference calls (strongly encouraged).

·         Attend the National Leadership Conference (strongly encouraged for training purposes).

·         Promote the Chapter positively in the community.

·         Act as a spokesperson and community liaison for the Chapter (as required).

·         Provide leadership to the board for board recruitment and succession planning.

·         Actively seek opportunities to partner and build strategic alliances / partnerships within the community.

·         Lead by example.

ORIENTATION

 

·         You will receive an Orientation Guide and might be asked to attend an Orientation Session (from / by your local Chapter).

 

TRAINING

 

·         You will be supported and trained by fellow board members and / or the Chapter Administrative Assistant.
